DeFord Lumber Company was founded in 1964 in Duncanville, Texas by the DeFord family. Through the years the company has developed strong bonds with local builders, vendors and the Dallas/Fort Worth community.
Since the beginning, DeFord’s has focused on offering high-quality supplies and materials, and unbeatable service. We pride ourselves on having the most experienced and knowledgeable staff in the region.
In addition to providing building materials, for many years DeFord’s featured a family-friendly hardware store known for its unique inventory, great service, and a colorful parrot named Edsel. Also, DeFord’s Lights & More lighting showroom offered a wide selection of beautiful lighting, pictures and furniture.
As the building and supply industry has changed, DeFord’s has changed with it, leaving the retail hardware and lighting markets behind and focusing exclusively on supplying professional builders and property managers. The creation of DeFord’s Millwork, Custom Millwork and Wholesale Maintenance Supply divisions in the 1990s has helped DeFord’s remain a sound, reliable company with forward-thinking leadership and best-in-the-business sales and service.
In December of 2019, DeFord’s was acquired by BMC, a leading provider of diversified building products, services and innovative building solutions in the U.S. residential construction market.
